Literary Experiences. When researching literary works, it is important to understand critical approaches to literary analysis, which will inform help direct the research that you conduct. Therefore, this class begins with an overview of critical approaches to literary analysis. After familiarizing yourself with the critical approaches explained in Appendix A of the course textbook, in addition to the recommended reading by Holcombe (2007), describe your experiences with literature and literary criticism.

In your response discuss your experiences with literature (both positive and negative) using one or more of the critical methods to analyze literature. Identify a specific literary text that you analyzed using that critical method, and then explain which critical approach to literary criticism is the most appealing to you at this point and why.

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7.
