Ashford ENG 318 Week 3 Journal Reflection and Response
Reflection and Response. Due by Day 7. We all have stories to tell based on our personal experiences. Reflect on a major life event or a seemingly small observation you have made concerning your own life. Decide on one such event or concern and, using the brainstorming mode that works best for you, take just five minutes to write the thoughts, images, and ideas that immediately come to mind. These may serve as the basis of your own personal narrative or memoir.
If you prefer not to write about a personal experience, go to your regular (or any) news media outlet, local or national, select an item in the list of news stories, and see if it can be expanded into a piece of creative nonfiction. If it can, if there is enough information for you to weave into a compelling narrative, try it. Reflect on the essay, “Journey’s End” by Susanne Paola Antonetta from Chapter 10 of this week’s required reading. Antonetta spins the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy into a story about her family and a side table. Write.
